Today is the Death Anniversary of founder Rashtriy Swayamsevk Sangh (RSS) Dr. Keshv Baliram Hedgewar, widely known as “Doctorji”. Doctor ji was born at Nagpur, he studied in Nagpur, Yavatmal & Pune before going to Calcutta in 1910 for medicine. There he came in to contact with revolutionary leaders & become a member of Anushilan Samiti, a well know group of freedom fighters. He was highly influenced by firebrand nationalism of Lokmanya Tilak. Doctor ji was participated in the freedom struggle of Nation and he was Jail on several occasion.
The greatness of Doctor ji lies, “In his vision of raising the level of national consciousness of common man through the mechanism of daily ‘Shakha’ of RSS. A battery of such nationally conscious people is able to achieve the goal of social transformation” said by Dattopant Thengdi. Today RSS has grown into a huge tree whose innumerable branches have spread in the various level of national & social life of India. They are trying to raise the National consciousness level common citizen of India to much higher level. Over 90 years Sangh has produced many men of great caliber, competence, superior quality but made all of them of faceless. No image building exercise in RSS. Doctor ji initiated a process to create people of great quality & capabilities sans.
The freedom of mother land always be
on top priority for Doctor ji as well as Sangh but he believed that alone could
not rid our society of all the problem. Dr Hedgewar said often, “Even if the
British leave unless the Hindus are organized as a powerful nation, where is
the guarantee that we shall be able to protect the freedom.” His life mission:
To organize the Hindu society and to take this Hindu Rashtra at the pinnacle of
glory making it the “VishawGuru” or world leader. After carefully study he
realized that the lack of national consciousness was major reason for the ills
that plagued making it submissive and defeatist resulting in the slavery of
hundreds of years. That the reason he founded Rashtriy Swayamsevk Sangh (RSS)
on 27th Sept 1925. It was a time when people were scared &
ashamed of calling them self “Hindu, call me anything even a donkey but don’t
call me Hindu” was the general attitude of Hindu society. In such time Doctor
ji stood alone like a solid rock proclaiming loudly, “ This is the land of
Hindus ‘HinduRashtra’ and will remain so, as long as there lived even one
Hindu”
A day before he left mortal Doctor ji
said he was immensely pleased to see the ‘miniature of Hindu Rashtra’ in front
him as Swayamsevak from all major province had gathered at the Third year Sangh
Shiksha Varg. There are many anti National element supported from international
agencies that encourage & support the forceful conversion of poor people,
encourage Naxalism and confuse people through influencing them. In such situation
the philosophy & ideology of Dr. Hedgewar that provided sound &
unshakable foundation to Sangh can save nation from these forces.
